On April 16, 2024, the International round table "Magtymguly Pyragy – the great enlightener and thinker of the Turkic world" was held at the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan.
The participants and speakers of this event were the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, Professor Rifkat Minnikhanov, Executive Secretary of the National Commission of Turkmenistan for UNESCO, Ambassador Chinar Rustemova, head and employees of the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Russia (Kazan), Turkmen and Tatarstan scientists, writers, poets and literary critics as well as the Consuls General of Turkey, China, Iran, Kazakhstan, Hungary, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan accredited in Kazan.
Before the event, an exhibition of Turkmen cultural heritage was held, during which elements of Turkmen national clothing, musical instruments and books dedicated to the history and culture of the Turkmen people were shown. The poems of the great enlightener Magtymguly were also performed.
The round table touched upon the topics of the common worldview of Magtymguly and his universal goals, the global significance of the poet's manuscripts, the humanistic ideas of the Turkmen thinker, as well as his work in the context of Tatar historical and cultural thought. Special attention was paid to his role in strengthening friendly ties between the peoples of those times through the use of cultural diplomacy, which was expressed in his works.
The speakers noted the extremely high importance and role of the Turkmen poet in Tatar culture and literature. In this context, Tatarstan scientists reported on the expediency of considering the possibility of erecting a monument to Magtymguly Pyragy in Kazan and a monument to G.Tukai in Ashgabat.
