On August 7, 2024, the grand opening of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan took place in the capital of Hungary. On the instructions of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, a creative delegation of Turkmen artists, cultural and artistic figures, representatives of the film industry, museum specialists and journalists went to Budapest.
Before the start of the ceremonial event, visitors viewed the prepared exhibition, where, to the sounds of national melody, they became acquainted with museum treasures, fine and decorative arts of Turkmenistan.
In honor of the opening, a grand gala concert was held with performances by the Hungarian State Folklore Ensemble and Turkmen performers.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Hungary Hemra Amannazarov expressed pride in the opportunity to present the culture of his country in the Hungarian Heritage House and highly appreciated the cultural, economic and diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Deputy State Secretary for Public Collections and Cultural Developments of the Hungarian Ministry of Culture and Innovation Mate Vincze emphasized the importance of this large-scale event for the mutual spiritual enrichment of the two nations. Vincze noted that cultural diplomacy involves countries understanding each other and studying common cultural roots.
The event coincides with the Kurultai, an annual festival of Turkic-speaking peoples in Hungary, and highlights the observer status that Hungary and Turkmenistan have in the Organization of Turkic States. As part of the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Hungary, our country's delegation will take part in this Kurultai – a celebration of the preservation of the ancient traditions of the Hunnic and Turkic peoples, which will be held in the town of Bugac on August 9-11.
State Secretary for Bilateral Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary Boglárka Illés highlighted the cultural parallels between the two countries. She mentioned that twenty young Turkmens have the opportunity to learn Hungarian every year as part of the Stipendium Hungaricum program, which promotes cultural understanding. «This event is aimed at preserving cultural identity, where language serves not only as a means but also as a support», she emphasized.
The Days of Culture of Turkmenistan in Hungary will last until August 11.
