Solemn events were held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Kyiv

On January 21, 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine hosted a festive event dedicated to the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and the 30th anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan, as well as the solemn presentation of the book of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov “Magtymguly – the Sage of the World”.

The events were attended by representatives of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, heads and staff of libraries, lecturers of universities in Kyiv, journalists, book publishers, students and representatives of the turkmen diaspora.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Toyly Atayev spoke at the solemn event dedicated to the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's neutrality. He noted that a special resolution of the UN General Assembly declared 2025 the “International Year of Peace and Trust” and this year is being held in the country with the same motto.

The Ambassador of Turkmenistan spoke about the model of positive neutrality and its fundamental provisions, the positions of our country on the main issues of the modern global agenda, the Concept of the activities and priorities of Turkmenistan within the framework of the International Year of Peace and Trust.

In their speeches, the participants of the event noted the high significance of Turkmenistan's peacekeeping efforts and the proclamation of the International Year of Peace and Confidence at Turkmenistan's initiative.

During the solemn event, a representative of the Turkmen Diaspora read out the poem “Turkmenistan - the Homeland of Peace and Trust” by Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in her native language.

On the same day, the presentation of the book “Magtymguly – the Sage of the World” by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took place.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Toyly Atayev, Director General of the National Library of Ukraine for Children Alla Gordiyenko, Acting Director of the Makhtumkuli Library in Kyiv Yulia Lopata, Director of the Ukrainian publishing house “AVIAZ” Viktor Zelensky spoke at the presentation of the new work of the President of Turkmenistan.

In his speech, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan presented the new book to the participants, noting that last year a series of various events were organized in honor of the 300th anniversary of the outstanding poet and thinker of the Magtymguly Fragi, which continue in accordance with the decision of UNESCO to include the 300th anniversary of the poet in the List of significant dates to be celebrated in 2024 - 2025.

T.Atayev spoke about the new edition and emphasized that the literary heritage of Magtymguly Fragi predetermined the basis of Turkmenistan's foreign policy, and poet's humanistic ideas correspond to the main goals of the United Nations to establish lasting peace throughout the planet.

Speaking at the presentation, heads of libraries and publishers emphasized the high importance of the book written by the President of Turkmenistan in the education of the younger generation, expressing hope that the book will be presented in Ukrainian.

Within the framework of the events, an exhibition of items of national heritage of the Turkmen people, including musical instruments, jewelry, traditional clothes, carpets, paintings and photo works, was held. The stands with books of the President of Turkmenistan and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, as well as collections of poems of the outstanding poet and thinker Magtymguly Fragi in different languages of the world were presented.

Traditionally, as part of the Embassy events, national melodies were played live on the dutar, and the participants were offered treats of the national Turkmen cuisine.
