Meeting of the Belgian Foreign Minister with Ambassadors of Central Asian Countries and Mongolia Held in Brussels
A working breakfast of the Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Belgium, Maxime Prévot with the Ambassadors of the Central Asian countries and Mongolia was held at the Egmont Palace in Brussels.
The event was organized at the initiative of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Kingdom of Belgium and coordinated by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in cooperation with the Belgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The participants discussed prospects for cooperation between Belgium and the countries of Central Asia and Mongolia in the fields of economy, transport, energy, logistics, innovation, sustainable development and critical raw materials.
In his remarks, the Belgian Foreign Minister expressed interest in expanding cooperation with the countries of the region, highlighting their economic and demographic potential and the importance of implementing practical joint projects.
Ambassador of Turkmenistan S.Palvanov emphasized the growing role of Central Asia as an important link in international transport and trade connectivity. Particular attention was paid to the significance of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia, the internationally recognized permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan, and the activities of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in Ashgabat.
The discussion also highlighted Turkmenistan’s role in developing transport and transit cooperation, including the potential of the Turkmenbashi International Seaport and the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route. Cooperation between Turkmenistan and Belgium in the textile industry was cited as a successful example of bilateral partnership.
During the meeting, the Ambassadors of the Central Asian countries and Mongolia presented their national priorities and proposals for further cooperation with Belgium and the European Union in the areas of trade, investment, transport, energy, education and sustainable development.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the participants reaffirmed their mutual interest in strengthening dialogue and expanding practical cooperation between Belgium, the countries of Central Asia and Mongolia at both bilateral and regional levels.
