Central Asian and U.S. Culture Ministers meeting within the C5+1 framework held in Tashkent
On 5 June 2026, a meeting of the Ministers of Culture of the Central Asian countries and the United States of America was held in Tashkent at the JW Marriott Hotel under the C5+1 format.
The meeting served as a continuation of the agreements reached during the C5+1 Summit held in Washington, D.C., in November 2025, which resulted in the adoption of a Joint Statement of Intent on the preservation of cultural heritage.
During the discussions, the participants reviewed practical avenues for further cooperation in the protection, study, and promotion of cultural heritage. Particular attention was devoted to the development of joint initiatives among museums, research institutions, and specialized organizations, as well as to the expansion of professional exchanges and capacity-building programs for experts in the cultural sector.
The agenda also included discussions on the application of modern technologies in the field of culture, including the digitalization of historical and cultural sites and the introduction of innovative approaches to their research, documentation, preservation and public accessibility.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan G.Muradaliyev underscored the importance of cultural cooperation as a key instrument for strengthening mutual trust and fostering constructive dialogue between the countries of Central Asia and the United States.
He highlighted Turkmenistan’s experience of collaboration with international partners in the restoration, research and preservation of cultural heritage monuments, as well as the successful implementation of joint projects supported by the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation.
The participants expressed confidence that the continued development of cultural dialogue within the C5+1 framework would contribute to stronger humanitarian ties, enhanced professional cooperation, and deeper mutual understanding among the peoples of the participating countries.
