Delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the International Conference held in the Republic of Azerbaijan
On 15 June 2026, the delegation of Turkmenistan participated in the international conference entitled “Regional Contribution to Global Security: Peacebuilding in the South Caucasus”, held in the city of Shusha, Republic of Azerbaijan.
The forum, organized by the Yeni Azerbaijan Party, was attended by representatives of political circles, expert communities and political parties from Azerbaijan, Türkiye, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, China, Pakistan, Belarus and other countries.
Addressing the conference, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Azerbaijan Gurbanmammed Elyasov noted that the foreign policy course of independent and permanently neutral Turkmenistan, based on the principles of peace, constructive dialogue, mutual trust and equal international cooperation, is in line with Azerbaijan’s efforts aimed at transforming the South Caucasus into a region of peace, stability and sustainable development.
In his speech, the head of the diplomatic mission emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the universally recognized norms and principles of international law, respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of states, as well as consideration of the legitimate interests of peoples.
Special attention was paid to the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to declare 2028 the Year of International Law, which reflects Turkmenistan’s commitment to strengthening the rule of law and developing international cooperation.
During the conference, an exchange of views took place on current issues of strengthening regional partnership, developing transport and communication links, expanding economic cooperation, and implementing joint initiatives aimed at ensuring peace, security and prosperity.
The participants of the forum emphasized the importance of further consolidating the efforts of the international community to strengthen an atmosphere of trust, good-neighborliness and constructive cooperation, and reaffirmed the significance of jointly promoting initiatives contributing to sustainable peace and stable development in the regions.
