Ambassador of Turkmenistan Meets with French Equine Expert
On 3 August 2026, a meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the French Republic between Ambassador M. Charyyev and Alexandre Gros, national technical expert of the French Equestrian Federation.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the training of specialized professionals, the exchange of international experience, as well as prospects for developing Turkmen-French cooperation in the field of horse breeding.
Particular attention was paid to the history of the Akhal-Teke horse breed in France, including Mr. Alexandre Gros’s unique experience in training the Akhal-Teke stallion Genjim, which was presented by Turkmenistan to the President of the French Republic, François Mitterrand, in 1994.
The parties also reviewed preparations for the World Equestrian Championship and the International Akhal-Teke Beauty Contest, which will take place on 4–6 September 2026 in Kronenberg, the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Mr. Alexandre Gros confirmed his readiness to deliver a presentation at the international scientific conference to be held within the framework of the Championship, focusing on the history of the Akhal-Teke horse breed in France.
In addition, the meeting addressed opportunities for establishing cooperation between the International Academy of Horse Breeding named after Aba Annayev and relevant French institutions, training Turkmen coaches and instructors, and applying advanced international practices in this field.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Mr. Alexandre Gros highly commended Turkmenistan’s efforts to preserve, develop, and promote the Akhal-Teke horse breed internationally, and expressed his willingness to contribute to the further promotion of the country’s national equestrian heritage.
