Significance of the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan was discussed at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Astana

A meeting was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Kazakhstan with Omurzak Ozganbayev, Member of the Council of Senators and respected elder-aksakal.

At the beginning of the meeting, the respected elder warmly recalled his visit to Ashgabat, where he participated in the 15th meeting of the Council of Elders of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held under the chairmanship of Turkmenistan from 11 to 13 March 2024.

Omurzak Ozganbayev noted the high level of organization of the event and the traditional hospitality of the Turkmen people. He emphasized that the meetings held in the Turkmen capital made a significant contribution to further strengthening cooperation among the Turkic states and left a most favourable impression.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, scheduled to be held in Ashgabat on 23 September 2026.

It was also noted that elections of deputies to the Kurultai will be held in the Republic of Kazakhstan on 23 August 2026. The Kurultai is intended to serve as an important socio-political institution providing for the participation of representatives of society and the older generation in discussions of issues of national importance.

The participants emphasized that, despite the differences in the state structures of the two countries, the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the new state body of Kazakhstan, the Halyk Kenesi (People’s Council), share a common historical and cultural foundation rooted in the ancient traditions of the Turkic peoples. Within these traditions, councils of elders and popular assemblies played an important role in making decisions of vital significance, strengthening social cohesion and preserving national values.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Omurzak Ozganbayev noted that the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan would constitute an important stage in the further development of the country, strengthening national unity and implementing strategic objectives aimed at ensuring the sustainable and progressive development of Turkmenistan.
