Conference dedicated to the Caspian Sea Day held in Tehran

On 11 August 2026, a conference dedicated to the Caspian Sea Day was held at the Department of Environment of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The event was attended by the Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Head of the Department of Environment Shina Ansari, senior representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Members of the Majlis, Ambassadors of the Caspian littoral states accredited in Tehran, as well as the Governors of Golestan and Gilan Provinces.

During the conference, an exchange of views was held on pressing issues related to environmental protection and the preservation of the ecological state of the Caspian Sea.

Addressing the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan noted that issues related to the Caspian Sea constitute one of the important areas of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy under the leadership of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

It was emphasized that Turkmenistan consistently advocates the development of international cooperation in the field of environmental protection of the Caspian Sea and further strengthening of constructive interaction among the Caspian littoral states, including within the framework of the United Nations.

In this context, particular attention was paid to the upcoming meeting of Heads of State dedicated to environmental issues of the Caspian Sea, scheduled to be held on 9 October 2026 in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”.

It was noted that holding this meeting in Avaza is a timely and important initiative that responds to current priorities in ensuring environmental security and sustainable development of the Caspian region. Confidence was expressed that the meeting will serve as an effective platform for constructive discussions on the preservation of the Caspian Sea and the rational use of its natural potential.

At the conclusion of the event, appreciation was expressed to the Government of Turkmenistan for the initiative to convene this important international meeting.
