Conference held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Dushanbe dedicated to the significance of upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty and the UN General Assembly Resolution on the Year of International Law

On 11 August 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Tajikistan hosted a conference dedicated to the international significance of the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, as well as to the initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to proclaim 2028 as the Year of International Law.

The event was attended by representatives of the Turkmen diaspora, members of the academic and teaching community, Turkmen students studying at higher educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan, and staff members of the Embassy of Turkmenistan.

The participants were provided with detailed information on the activities of the Halk Maslahaty, its role within the socio-political system of the country, and its important role in shaping the strategic directions of national development. Particular attention was paid to the upcoming meeting of the Halk Maslahaty, scheduled for 23 September 2026. It was noted that the meeting would review the results of the work carried out, assess the progress achieved, and identify priority tasks for the long-term development of the country.

The conference also provided comprehensive coverage of the international initiative of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to proclaim 2028 the Year of International Law. In this context, particular emphasis was placed on the importance of the adoption by the United Nations General Assembly of the relevant resolution, initiated by Turkmenistan and supported by a broad range of UN Member States.

Following the official part of the conference, a cultural event was organized for the participants, featuring musical performances on the traditional Turkmen musical instrument, the dutar, which is inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
