Meeting of the Leadership of Trade Union Associations of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan held in Astana
On September 11, 2026, a meeting of the heads of the trade union associations of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana.
Chairperson of the National Center of Trade Unions of Turkmenistan Oguljennet Berdiliyeva met with Chairperson of the Federation of Trade Unions of the Republic of Kazakhstan Satybaldy Dauletin.
During the talks, the sides discussed current issues of bilateral cooperation in the areas of protecting the labour and socio-economic rights of workers, developing social partnership, occupational safety, trade union education, as well as the exchange of experience.
An important outcome of the meeting was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation aimed at further strengthening collaboration between the trade union organizations of the two countries, expanding professional contacts and implementing joint initiatives.
As part of the visit, an international round table entitled “Strengthening Social Dialogue and the Role of Trade Unions in Ensuring Decent Work: Experience of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan” was held with the participation of representatives of the trade union organizations of the two countries and the International Labour Organization.
Particular attention was paid to further developing regional trade union cooperation. In this regard, the importance of the upcoming International Forum of the Heads of Trade Unions of the Countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan, to be held in Ashgabat in November 2026, as well as the international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the role of trade unions in promoting international labour standards and sustainable development, was emphasized.
The events held contribute to further strengthening partnership between the trade union organizations of Turkmenistan and Kazakhstan and developing practical cooperation in this area.
