Reception Dedicated to the 35th Anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence Held in Washington
On 7 October 2026, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States of America hosted a reception at the Anderson House Museum in Washington, D.C., dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence and the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States of America.
The event was attended by representatives of the Office of the President of the United States, Congress, the Department of State and other government agencies, heads and diplomatic representatives of foreign diplomatic missions accredited in the United States, representatives of the mass media, members of the Turkmen diaspora, and students.
Opening the reception, Counsellor of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the United States, Ambassador Meret Orazov highlighted the achievements of Turkmenistan during the years of independence and emphasised the importance of developing constructive international cooperation and friendly relations between Turkmenistan and the United States of America.
Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the United States Mark Cameron delivered congratulatory remarks and extended his congratulations to the Turkmen side on the 35th anniversary of the country’s independence.
A special place in the programme was given to a cultural presentation showcasing Turkmenistan’s distinctive cultural heritage and contemporary creative achievements.
As part of the evening, a fashion show featuring collections by the Turkmen fashion houses “Binayim”, “Well-yakalar”, “Seyran Style” and “Aynur” was held with the support of the American company “Royal East”.
An exhibition of works by People’s Artist of Turkmenistan Ishanguly Ishanguliyev was also organised.
The musical programme featured piano compositions by renowned Turkmen composers Nury Halmammedov, Suhan Tuyliyev and other authors.
The ceremonial event concluded with a reception, providing an opportunity for the participants to continue their interaction in a friendly and festive atmosphere.
