Turkmenistan joins the UNESCO Convention on the Prohibition of Illicit Traffic in Cultural Property
During the 17th meeting of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, a resolution was adopted on the accession of Turkmenistan to the Convention on the Means of Prohibiting and Preventing the Illicit Import, Export and Transfer of Ownership of Cultural Property, adopted by the UNESCO General Conference in Paris on November 14, 1970.
The Convention stipulates the establishment of the national agency for the protection of cultural heritage, the improvement of the national cultural heritage laws and raising of public awareness on these issues.
