The Central Asian Women’s Dialogue confirmed its course towards strengthening the global agenda “Women, Peace and Security” and achieving the SDGs

On April 12, 2022, a regular meeting of the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue was held in hybrid format.

The leaders of the national parliaments, high-ranking United Nations representatives took part in the dialogue.

The Chairman of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Ms. Gulshat Mammedova, representing the Turkmen chairmanship in the Dialogue this year, stressed that the Dialogue, established in December 2020, is now turning into an effective platform for the exchange of views and best world practice in empowerment women and girls, increasing the level of their participation in the political, socio-economic and cultural life of society.

The Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Central Asia, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, Ms. Natalia German, during the meeting noted the particular importance of this platform in strengthening regional cooperation to implement the global agenda “Women, Peace and Security”, as well as to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals.

During the meeting members adopted the the Regulations of the Central Asian Women’s Dialogue as the legal basis for its further work.

The participants also reached an agreement on the draft Dialogue Work Plan for 2022, which is planned to be signed during a face-to-face meeting in May this year.
