On June 14, national consultations started in Turkmenistan on preparations for the Transforming Education Summit (TES), which will be held on September 19, 2022, in New York.
Consultations are coordinated by the Ministry of Education with the assistance of the Office of the UN Resident Coordinator in Turkmenistan and the UNICEF Country Office. Relevant national entities and non-governmental organizations take part in consultations.
The upcoming Summit is convened by the UN Secretary-General and is a milestone in the Global Education Cooperation Mechanism's roadmap for achieving Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education). This forum will be the first event where world leaders, young people and all stakeholders involved in the educational process will come together to consider the fundamental issues of further development in this area at the global level.
The high-ranking delegation of Turkmenistan also plans to take part in the preparatory meeting for the Summit, which will be held at a high level on June 28-30, 2022 at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.
