On April 3, 2023, in The Hague, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Belgium Sapar Palvanov presented his credentials to OPCW Director General Fernando Arias as Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW).
During the ceremony, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan and the Director General of the OPCW discussed the prospects for cooperation between the Organization and Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, Ambassador S. Palvanov conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Director General of the OPCW.
The Ambassador noted that, being the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the OPCW, he would make every effort to further strengthen bilateral relations in all areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. The willingness of the Turkmen side to hold conferences, seminars and trainings in the field of ensuring and managing chemical safety was also expressed.
Director General Fernando Arias, informing about the main areas of work of the OPCW, stressed that in the context of constant growth and change in the chemical industry and pharmaceuticals, one of the main tasks of the Organization is the constant monitoring of the production and storage of chemicals, their proper use and transparency of their trade.
