President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov recieved Secretary General of the Energy Charter Mr. Urban Rusnak, who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in the International Energy Forum.
Highly evaluating the initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with the aim to ensure the global energy safety, the Secretary General of the Energy Charter noted that increasing reliability of the transit of energy sources was one of the priority tasks set to the Energy Charter. The UN Resolution adopted on Turkmenistan's initiative serves as a basis for searching for new approaches towards the energy problems and developing the optimal solutions in this sphere.
According to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the international cooperation in the energy sphere was one of the key factors of the sustainable development of states, peace, stability and wellbeing in the world. Based on this, Turkmenistan as one of the leading energy powers carries out an international work making the world community focus on the energy safety.
The Turkmen leader noted that our country that possesses huge hydrocarbon resources took specific steps to use them in the interests of the world community. In particular, one of the key aspects of the energy strategy of Turkmenistan is diversification and expansion of the geography of export routes for supplying ntural gas to the world markets. In this regard, the larg-scale projects are implemented with the aim to establish a multi-vector gas transportation system.
The Turkmen leader and his guest underlined the necessity to consolidate the joint efforts to implement the agreements achieved during the forum in Ashgabat, the main goal of which was to strengthen the measures taken to ensure the safety and reliability of energy resources supplies and develop the clear principles of work of the states at the international markets of energy sources.
In this regard, the President of Turkmenistan and his guest exchanged their views on the opportunities for the constructive cooperation, in particular within the United Nations Organisation and the Organisations for Security and Cooperation in Europe given the role of the Energy Charter, which Turkmenistan would chair in 2017.
In conclusion of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Secretary General of the Energy Charter Urban Rusnak expressed belief in the further successful continuation of the fruitful coperation.
