On October 10, 2018, the meeting between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov and Parliamentary Under Secretary of State at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport of the United Kingdom Lord Ashton Henry who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in 53rd Board of Heads of Communications Administrations of the Regional Commonwealth in the field of communications, was held at the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Lord Ashton expressed gratitude to Turkmen side for warm welcome and hospitality at the beginning of his speech.
Underlining the importance of cooperation within international organizations, the parties discussed further steps to expand cooperation in given direction. The parties also exchanged views on expanding interparliamentary cooperation and stated to continue holding bilateral political consultations.
Present situation in trade and economic cooperation and its prospects were discussed during the meeting. Turkmen side emphasized the efficient work with leading British companies in energy sector such as «BG Group», «Shell», «Buried Hill (Serdar) Ltd» and «BP».
The parties noted the importance of expanding cooperation in the fields of culture and education and discussed further steps to activate mechanism for English learning. Current situation in cooperation on environment protection issues was also analyzed during the meeting.
