On November 27, 2016 Global Conference on Sustainable Transport, which was held in the Turkmen capital city of Ashgabat completed its work. In the second day of the forum, the participants discussed a number of topical issues and future trends in the development of logistics systems.
Sectional sessions of the conference focused on the role and forms of public transport in the XXI century, the energy value for the development of the transport sector, a discussion of practical steps for the establishment of a sustainable network of combined transport corridors, ensuring investments of large logistics projects at the expense of domestic resources and international cooperation.
Within the framework of the Global Conference on the Sustainable Transport there also held the signing ceremony, contributing to the expansion of legal cooperation foundation, Turkmenistan's integration into the global system of world economic relations.
Thus, Turkmenistan has acceded to the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Trans-Asian Railway, the Intergovernmental Agreement on the Asian Highway Network, the Intergovernmental agreement on dry ports. Turkmenistan has also acceded to the International Convention on the Harmonization of controls of goods at the border.
The purpose of these agreements is the harmonization and simplification of intermodal transportation in the Asia-Pacific region, the expansion of international trade, improving efficiency and reducing the cost of transportation and logistics services, meeting the needs of the landlocked countries.
