On December 12, 2016 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a meeting with the Head of European Union (EU) Delegation in Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara), Mr. Christian Berger, who arrived in the Turkmen capital on a working visit.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Ambassador addressed his congratulations to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan with the 21st anniversary of the Neutrality of Turkmenistan and wishes of peace, prosperity and new achievements on the path of independent development.
After the ceremony of presenting the copies of his credentials, the sides discussed issues of further cooperation for the development of bilateral relations in various fields. The head of the EU delegation was acquainted with the priorities of domestic and foreign policy of Turkmenistan, goals and objectives implemented by the country's large-scale socio-economic reforms and transformations, including in the legal field.
The parties appreciated the dynamically developing bilateral relations and the results achieved, as evidenced by dozens of already implemented and ongoing projects. Interest was expressed in cooperation in the framework of BOMCA (Border Management Assistance Programme in Central Asia) and CADAP (to combat drug trafficking Programme of Action in Central Asia).
The same day, Mr. Christian Berger presented to the Chairman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan his credentials as the Head of the EU delegation to Turkmenistan.
