On December 2, 2016 Turkmen-German political consultations were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The delegation of the Federative Republic of Germany was headed by the Director for Eastern Europe, Caucasus and Central Asia of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mr. Andreas Peschke.
During the consultations, serious attention was paid to cooperation in political, trade-economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian fields. The sides discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation and identified specific areas of further cooperation. The talks also touched on regional and international agendas.
Speaking about the issues of interaction within international organizations, the two sides stressed the importance of further intensification of the contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
When discussing trade and economic partnership the parties specified the role of the Joint Turkmen-German working group on economic cooperation. With great satisfaction, it was noted that the regular holding of the Days of German economy in Turkmenistan makes a significant contribution to the development of bilateral trade and economic relations.
During the talks, the sides discussed issues of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular in the sphere of science and education. The health sector was marked among priority areas of cooperation.
The sides expressed satisfaction with the outcome of political consultations and expressed the need for further continuation of the talks on various levels.
