On February 2, 2017 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with members of the mission of the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to assess the preparation and holding of the upcoming February 12 presidential elections in Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the mission of the ODIHR OSCE expressed readiness of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to continue to provide full assistance to the Turkmen side in the promotion of large-scale legal reforms aimed at continuous improvement of national legislation and the electoral system in particular.
The delegation is scheduled to have meetings at the Mejlis, the Ministry of Adalat (Justice), the State news agency (TDH), the State Committee on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, the Turkmen National Institute for Democracy and Human Rights under President of Turkmenistan, public organizations, including the Union of Women and Youth organization named after Makhtumkuli. Also, meetings will be organized directly with the candidates for the post of President of Turkmenistan put forward by the country's political parties and initiative groups of citizens.
