On February 2, 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Qatar in Turkmenistan Mr. Khalifa bin Ahmad Al-Suwaidi, during which important issues of bilateral cooperation were discussed.
Noting that the main factor in the development of bilateral relations is an open and friendly dialogue established between the two heads of states, the sides stressed the importance of the results of the official visit of the Emir of Qatar SheikhTamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Turkmenistan, held in March last year. In the context of active development of contacts at the highest political level, were raised questions concerning the organization of the official visit of President of Turkmenistan to Qatar this year.
Stressing high dynamics of cooperation between Turkmen and Qatari diplomatic services, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Qatar's Ambassador to Turkmenistan stated the role of mutual visits of heads of foreign ministries of the two countries held in 2016, and in this regard agreed on the need for expansion of bilateral Ministerial contacts.
