Turkmen-Georgian bilateral relations discussed at a video conference

On April 1, 2020, a meeting was held in videoconference format between the representatives of Turkmenistan and Georgia at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

The Georgian side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Georgia A. Khvtisiashvili. The Georgian side was also attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Deputy Minister of Finance and heads of agencies and companies.

The Turkmen side was headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economics, representatives of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, as well as heads of several agencies and transport and logistics centers also attended the meeting.

During the video conference, special emphasis was placed on bilateral cooperation in the transport and transit sphere. The parties focused on the revitalization of the Caspian-Black Sea international transport corridor. The parties discussed the possible use of a land plot in the port of Poti (Georgia). In addition, the parties discussed Georgia’s experience in washing and disinfecting trains arriving from abroad.

Noting the importance of establishing mutually beneficial contacts in the field of logistics, the parties also exchanged views on pricing issues in the field of cargo transportation, customs duties, trade benefits, and settlements between the relevant departments.
