On April 29, 2020, a telephone conversation took place between President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Hassan Rouhani.
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Hassan Rouhani exchanged mutual congratulations on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, addressing the wishes of peace, prosperity and well-being to the peoples of both countries.
During the telephone conversation, the interlocutors praised the interstate dialogue, which is based on the traditions of good neighborliness and historical and cultural ties that unite the two peoples.
As was noted, today, Turkmen-Iranian relations are actively developing across the spectrum - in the political, economic and humanitarian spheres. Along with this, Turkmenistan and Iran effectively cooperate within the framework of authoritative international organizations, including the UN and its specialized structures.
The two heads of states also exchanged views on topical issues of regional and international issues. In this context, the theme of the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) was touched on, covering a wide geographical space and having a negative impact on the lives of many states and peoples.
President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that Turkmenistan fully supports the efforts of the world community in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In this regard, the Turkmen leader expressed his conviction that the consolidation of efforts of all the states of the planet will contribute to achieving the desired results in solving this important task.
At the end of the conversation, noting the existence of considerable potential for the further dynamic development of fruitful Turkmen-Iranian cooperation, the heads of the two neighboring states again congratulated each other on the arrival of Holy Ramadan - a blessed month of good deeds, mercy and humanism, addressing in this regard the best wishes to the fraternal peoples of both countries and the entire Muslim Ummah.
