OSCE Workshop on Medical Skills for Use at Checkpoint Management started in Ashkhabad

On May 19, 2020, a two-day online seminar on medical skills training applicable to the management of checkpoints began in Ashgabat. This workshop was organized by the OSCE Center in Ashgabat in conjunction with the WHO Country Office in Turkmenistan.

The seminar is attended by leaders and representatives of the OSCE, representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Health and Medical Industry, the State Border, Migration and Customs Services of Turkmenistan, the Head of the WHO Country Office, the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Turkmenistan, as well as experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe by means of video conference.

At the opening of the seminar, the head of the OSCE Center in Ashgabat, Ambassador N.Drozd, noted the relevance and importance of this training in the context of the global fight against the spread of COVID-19 coronavirus. The diplomat also emphasized that the containment of the virus’s penetration and spread into the territory of Turkmenistan was made possible thanks to timely measures taken by the government.

During the training, national experts from the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan and experts from the WHO Regional Office for Europe highlighted a wide range of issues, including international health rules and their practical application at checkpoints.

The workshop will continue on May 20, 2020.
