On August 31, 2020, the signing ceremony of the “Memorandum of Understanding concerning Land Acquisition for the Afghan portion of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline project” took place in the city of Kabul.
The Memorandum was signed by the Acting Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan M.Karzai on behalf of the Afghan side and by the representative of the State Concern “Turkmengas” in the Board of Directors of the «TAPI Pipeline Company Limited» company M.Amanov from the Turkmen side. The Acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum produçts of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan M.H.Chakhansuri also participated to the event.
It is noteworthy to underline the significance of successful implementation of the “Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India” gas pipeline project for the countries of the region and the world in general in the context of strengthening energy security and establishment of essential social and economic conditions. This promising project opens vast opportunities for the export of energy resources to the markets of South Asia via transit through the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan. The project is also aimed at the overall integration of the neighboring Afghanistan in the architecture of world stability.
