On September 22, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People's Republic of China Sun Weidong, who is completing his diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed gratitude to the Ambassador for his personal contribution to the development of Turkmen-Chinese relations. In turn, the Chinese diplomat noted that work in Turkmenistan occupies a special place in his diplomatic career, since Turkmenistan and China are strategically important partners.
Noting the importance of strengthening political and diplomatic dialogue, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation, the parties also particularly noted the positive experience of work within international organizations, in particular, the UN.
During the meeting, the parties underlined the necessity of activation of the interaction within the framework of the Turkmen-Chinese Committee on Cooperation on the trade-economic, transport, energy and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
The diplomats also discussed a number of topical issues, including the possibility of intensive expansion of trade, economic and investment partnership between Turkmenistan and the PRC.
At the end of the meeting, the Ambassador once again expressed gratitude to the Government of the country for all-round support and assistance in the implementation of his diplomatic mission in Turkmenistan aimed at strengthening mutually beneficial ties between the two friendly countries.
