On March 31, 2017 President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko attended the solemn ceremony of opening the ore-dressing and processing complex for production of potash fertilizers in Garlyk, Lebap Velayat. Opening the new facility, the leaders of the two states cut the symbolic ribbon at the central gates to the complex.
Speaking about the importance of the project in the context of the strategy of social and economic development of the regions, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov noted that with the commissioning of the Garlyk Potash Complex, more than 1,600 new jobs have been created, and the living standard of the Lebap velayat population will increase. Congratulating everyone on the commissioning of the Garlyk mining and ore-dressing complex, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that this largest production facility serves as a striking example of the Turkmen-Belarusian economic partnership.
The construction of the unique industrial giant with the annual capacity of 1.400 million tons of potassium chloride had started by Turkmen and Belarusian specialists in 2010. The new production will satisfy the country’s demands in potassium fertilizers as well as will allow significantly increasing the export volumes. Colossal reserves of potassium salt deposits in Garlyk exceeding more than 2 billion tons will provide stable work of the complex for many decades. During the top level talks in Ashgabat, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Belarus spoke about this industrial giant as the flagship of the economic partnership of the two states.
Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Alexander Lukashenko looked around the facility having made a tour around its territory. New industrial complex includes more than 100 facilities. They are provided with most modern equipment and technologies from the famous world’s manufacturers from Germany, Switzerland, Great Britain, Denmark, USA, Russia and Belarus. Strong infrastructure of energy, water and gas supply is used for the work of Garlyk ore dressing and processing complex, huge network of modern engineering and transport communications cover the territory of the complex.
The ore-dressing and processing complex in Garlyk, put into operation today with the participation of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Republic of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko, shipped the first products to domestic and foreign consumers.
Upon completion of familiarization with industrial facilities, heads of states flew by helicopter to the city of Turkmenabat.
At the airport in Turkmenabat, the Turkmen and Belarusian leaders said goodbye in a friendly manner. After that the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko flew to Minsk.
