On December 11, 2020, in the building of the State Migration Service of the country, a solemn ceremony of presenting passports to persons adopted into the citizenship of Turkmenistan was held.
The President of Turkmenistan signed a Decree “On granting the citizenship of Turkmenistan,” in accordance with which 2580 people have become the citizens of Turkmenistan. Also, the head of state signed a Resolution according to which 874 people received the residence permit in Turkmenistan.
The event was attended by representatives of ministries and departments of the country, international organizations, honorary elders, as well as journalists.
As an active member of the United Nations, Turkmenistan strictly fulfills its obligations in the humanitarian field. On the basis of national legislation and the relevant UN Conventions on Refugees and Human Rights, consistent work is being carried out on the protection and maintaining the rights, freedoms and interests of all people living in Turkmenistan.
Guided by the principles of humanism and ancestral virtue, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov pursues a policy of broad international cooperation, paying particular attention to the issues of the human dimension and social nature. Actively interacting with international humanitarian organizations, the state contributes to the efforts of the world community, taking effective measures to provide assistance to migrants, refugees, stateless persons and protecting their rights.
