As was noted at the meeting, during the period since gaining neutrality status, Turkmenistan has made progress in many directions. Active cooperation in the field of environmental protection deserves special respect and is critical for the sustainable development of the region. The importance of water diplomacy in the framework of a long-term environmental strategy was also emphasized. The President of Turkmenistan repeatedly states the need to actively promote "water diplomacy".
European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell said, "Turkmenistan has demonstrated that Neutrality can be a factor in constructive international dialogue, contributing to the strengthening of international cooperation and sustainable development." In this context, he emphasized the strategic proposals of Turkmenistan to promote environmental protection in the region, primarily around the Aral Sea.
All speakers noted that in order to address the environmental issues, climate change and water issues, it is necessary to develop active cooperation at the regional and international levels.
