On April 12, 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Turkmenistan Mr. Diego Ungaro.
During the conversation, the sides noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of the development of relations between the two countries. Particular attention was paid to strengthening political and diplomatic ties, expanding trade and economic cooperation.
A thorough exchange of views was held on intensifying cooperation between Turkmenistan and Italy within the framework of international organizations, primarily the UN. The role of holding consultations on a systemic basis between the foreign ministries of the two states was noted.
After discussing the prospects for energy cooperation between the countries, the sides also expressed interest in establishing contacts between the business structures of the two countries.
