Turkmenistan activates multilateral cooperation on UNESCO platform

On January 29, 2021 the signing of the “Agreement between the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the joint promotion, management and protection of the components of the Serial transnational nomination “Silk Road: Zaravshan-Karakum Corridor” in the UNESCO World Cultural and Natural Heritage List” had been held.

With the aim of the development of cooperation of Turkmenistan with UNESCO and enhancement of the legal basis of mutually beneficial partnership, the Minister of Culture of Turkmenistan A.Shamyradov signed this document from Turkmen side.

The representatives of the UNESCO headquarters in Paris as well as Permanent representatives of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan near UNESCO attended online signing ceremony.

Having signed this document, the Turkmen side once again proved its commitment and intention for activation multi-sided dialogue, aimed at development of cultural-humanitarian cooperation on regional and global levels.

In the book of the President of Turkmenistan “Turkmenistan – Heart of the Great Silk Road” the given historical phenomenon is considered as the central link that had a huge impact on the development of the whole civilization.

As is known, one of the priority themes of Turkmenistan’s international agenda within the context of the implementation of Agenda 2030 is comprehensive intensification of the cooperation of the country with UNESCO. As an outcome of many years of collaboration with UNESCO structures and experts, Turkmenistan has reached noticeable results in such spheres as culture, education, science and ecology.
