On April 29, 2017, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R. Meredov met with the delegation of the Turkish Republic led by the Deputy Prime Minister Yildirim Tugrul Turkesh, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the celebrations on the occasion of the Day of the Turkmen Horse.
During the talks, the sides discussed topical issues of interstate cooperation, underscoring their mutual interest in the further development of the established dialogue in the trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. In this regard, the sides noted the high level of political and diplomatic partnership and exchanged views on the possibility of expanding mutually acceptable cooperation in this direction. Also, a commitment was expressed to further development of regional and international cooperation, including within the framework of international organizations. The parties stressed the interest in intensifying inter-parliamentary cooperation.
Among the priority issues of the talks were the issues of the development of cooperation in the trade and economic area, including energy, transport, industry and agriculture.
Concerning the cultural-humanitarian component of the relationship, the positive role of joint cultural events was noted, as well as the need of the development of cooperation in the fields of education, sport and tourism.
