On the 16th of June 2021, the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian was received by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Chairman of the Supreme Control Chamber of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
During the meeting, it was underlined that Turkmenistan intends to further expand cooperation with the European Union on all vectors posing mutual interest.
The parties exchanged views on strengthening cooperation in the area of security, energy, transport, nature protection, etc. In view of the active process of digitalization of the key sectors of national economy, the Turkmen side has expressed interest in the know-how of the European specialists in the given sphere.
Special attention during the meeting was paid to the issues of security, stability and sustainable development on the regional and international levels. The parties noted with content the multiyear cooperation experience within the joint projects on countering current threats and challenges.
Also, an exchange of views took place in regard to further expansion of trade-economic ties and cultural-humanitarian exchanges with the EU countries.
In the framework of the visit of the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian to Ashgabat, his meetings with the representatives of the profile agencies of Turkmenistan are planned to take place.
