On May 2-4, 2017, a regular meeting of the joint Turkmen-Afghan security commission was held in the capital of Afghanistan, Kabul. To participate in the work of the commission, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov arrived in the Afghan capital.
The agenda of the meeting included issues of securing the construction of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and other infrastructure projects with the participation of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan (construction of power lines and railways), as well as methods of bilateral cooperation in security matters, security and stability at the joint border, as well as in the border areas of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan.
In addition, during the working visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan had the meetings with the President of Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Gani, the Head of the Executive Branch A.Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs S.Rabbani, the Secretary of the Security Council M.H. Atmar, the Minister of Finance and the head of the Afghan part of the joint Turkmen-Afghan intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation E.Hakimi.
At these meetings, issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, transport, as well as issues of expanding trade, economic and humanitarian cooperation were discussed.
