On September 9-10, 2021, in Tashkent city the 23rd Central Asia Media Conference of the OSCE was held in hybrid format. The theme of the Conference was “Promoting Public Value of the Media in Central Asia”.
About 70 participants from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Mongolia representing the governmental structures, media, the civil society and scientific community discussed core values, the content and strategic problems of the public service broadcasting in terms of ethical standards and interaction with the audience,
Along with the representatives of media of the countries of Central Asia, the staff members of the magazine of the MFA of Turkmenistan titled “Foreign Policy and Diplomacy of Turkmenistan” as well as the representatives of independent news agencies of the country took active part in the Conference through the videoconferencing.
Teresa Ribeiro, OSCE Representative on Freedom of the Media especially underlined a need for a trusted medium, which carries news, public affairs and cultural programming, which is positively perceived by citizens and which encompasses all of the society.
