On November 19, 2021, the Seventh meeting of the Sub-Committee on Energy Cooperation of the Turkmen-Chinese Intergovernmental Committee on Cooperation was held in an online format.
The Turkmen side was led by the Chairman of “Turkmengas” State Concern B.Amanov. The Chinese side was led by the Director of the National Energy Administration of the People’s Republic of China Zhang Jianhua. The meeting was also attended by the representatives of the relevant ministries and agencies of the two countries.
The parties discussed the issues of the implementation of the agreements in gas sphere reached during the telephone talk between the Heads of the two states which took place in May of the current year. Special emphasis was made on the issues of the implementation of decisions of the previous meetings and on the cooperation in the oil and gas and in petrochemical fields. In particular, the issues concerning the export of Turkmen natural gas to the PRC were discussed.
The sides considered the issues of comprehensive cooperation to increase the volume of trade, develop gas fields, increase production and expand cooperation in financing.
In addition, the attention was paid to the study of the expansion of the new spheres of cooperation in energy including the renewable energy sources. The parties agreed to continue the close interaction in the oil-and-gas field.
