On February 25, 2022, the international media forum "The Importance of the Mass Media in the Development of Turkmenistan in the World Community", dedicated to the year "The Age of the People with Arkadag" was held. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the State Committee of Turkmenistan for Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography, as well as the State News Agency of Turkmenistan organized the media forum.
The event was attended by the heads and chief editors of news agencies and leading media outlets of the country, representatives of foreign media accredited in the country, the Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union, heads and representatives of the media and television and radio companies of the Russian Federation, Iraq, Jordan, Bahrain Georgia, Republic of Korea, the People's Republic of China, Republic of Turkey, Republic of Uzbekistan Republic of Azerbaijan and Japan.
The First Deputy Director General of TASS information agency Mikhail Gusman, Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Javad Mottagi, the General Director of the TRT-AVAZ TV channel of the Republic of Turkey Sedat Sarikaya, the Chairman of the National Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Uzbekistan Alisher Khadzhaev, the Director of the CGTN-Russian Media Corporation of the People's Republic of China Ding Yun and others made their presentations by videoconferencing.
The speakers noted that in Turkmenistan, along with other areas, great success has been achieved in improving the functioning of the national media, as well as active relations have been established with foreign partners with an emphasis on the exchange of experience.
The Secretary General of the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union Javad Mottagi, in his speech stressed that, being a full member of the Union, Turkmenistan is doing a lot of work to expand international cooperation.
As the Head of the Central Asian Regional Branch of the All-Russian State Television and Radio Broadcasting Company Fyodor Plotnikov noted, that the year of 2022 has been declared “The Epoch of the people with Arkadag” by the decision of the Mejlis of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan. And the fact that the forum is taking place at such an important time for the Turkmen people speaks of its special significance and timeliness. This strongly confirms the aspirations of Turkmenistan to further strengthen stability and peace, socio-economic prosperity, as well as the development of diplomatic ties with the countries of the world and good neighborly relations in the region.
Expressing confidence that this forum will serve as an important platform for the exchange of views on further deepening cooperation in the media sphere, Chairman of the National Television and Radio Company of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Khadzhaev spoke about the interaction between the State Committee of Turkmenistan on Television, Radio Broadcasting and Cinematography and the National Television and Radio Company of Uzbekistan.
The head of the department of international relations of the South Korean public television and radio company (Korean Broadcasting System) Vansu Kim noted the great opportunities for further expansion of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea in the information direction.
The forum participants exchanged views on important issues, as well as discussed the work of international media.
