On June 9-11, 2017, Ashgabat and Mary hosted the media forum "Asian Games in the World Press", which brought together representatives of the International Sports Press Association (AIPS), sports press associations of Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates, Mongolia, Hong Kong, major media companies Triwandi Çanzo, Gilmore business network, "Laurel", network and television media "PTV news", "Media Lusa", State TV and Radio Company of Belarus. Representatives of relevant departments and media of Turkmenistan attended the forum.
During the meeting, the guests were shown videos on the development of Turkmen sports, conditions created in Turkmenistan for major international competitions.
On June 9, the forum participants were given the opportunity to get acquainted with the objects of the Olympic town. The guests and participants of the forum noted the undoubted successes achieved by Turkmenistan in the development of sport, the huge attention paid by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to this sphere.
The forum received coverage of the role of the media in the process of preparing high-level sporting events, the need for intensive work in this direction, not only in the traditional way - through the print press, television and radio channels, but also to maximize the multifaceted opportunities presented by online Internet publications and social media.
The interest that the forthcoming games in Ashgabat attracted from specialists in the field of mass media, in the world media was stressed. The participants expressed readiness for close cooperation with the Turkmen side in carrying out the largest sports competitions, including their information support.
On June 10, celebrations took place in Mary in honor of 100 days before the beginning of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in September this year in Ashgabat. Participants in the media forum "Asian Games in the World Press" were among the honored guests of these festivities.
The program of the media forum ended on June 11 with a visit of its participants to the International Akhal-Teke Equestrian Sports Complex.
