On April 16, 2022, a regular meeting of the Interdepartmental Commission on the implementation of Turkmenistan's international obligations in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law was held in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
Opening the meeting, Chairman of the Interdepartmental Commission, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov spoke about the important steps taken by the Government of Turkmenistan in the field of human rights and international humanitarian law.
During the meeting, reports on the activities of the Interdepartmental Commission in 2021 were also heard and priority areas for activities for the coming period were outlined. The participants provided detailed information on the work done, including the results of cooperation with international organizations to strengthen the legal framework for interaction, as well as to expand the range of multilateral partnerships.
The Work Plan of the Commission for 2022 was considered and the main tasks of its further implementation were discussed. It was noted that the events planned for the current year are aimed at promoting the humane principles embedded in the activities of the state to strengthen the bonds of friendship and mutual understanding between countries and peoples.
In addition, the participants also considered priority areas for cooperation between state structures and public organizations of the country with international partners.
During the speeches, it was emphasized that the Interdepartmental Commission pays special attention to raising the level of legal knowledge of the population, expanding citizens' access to relevant information, in particular through thematic publications in the media.
