On June 19, 2017, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan hosted a meeting with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow), Mrs. Regina Veronica Maria Jones-Bos, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
After the Ambassador presented the copies of her credentials, the sides exchanged views on the current state of relations between Turkmenistan and the Netherlands and expressed their desire to further develop them. Speaking about the role of the visits at high levels, the parties also discussed the possibility of arranging visits between parliamentarians of the two countries. Noting the prospects for the development of relations between foreign ministries, the sides put forward a number of proposals for establishing direct contacts on a comprehensive basis.
In her turn, the Ambassador noted the positive dynamics of relations and expressed interest in further development of cooperation within the framework of international organizations. The sides exchanged views on the current state of cooperation within the framework of the EU-Central Asia dialogue.
During the discussions of opportunities and prospects for energy cooperation, the Turkmen side spoke about the country's achievements in this field. Mrs. Jones-Bos, in her turn, informed about the interest of Dutch companies in cooperation with Turkmenistan, and also noted the areas of technology and health protection as areas of interest. Also, mutual interest in the development of relations in the field of the science of education was noted.
The Turkmen side informed the Ambassador about the international events planned to be held this year in Turkmenistan, including the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, as well as the 28th session of the Energy Charter Conference.
