On July 4, 2017, in Riyadh, the official ceremony of signing the Protocol on the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Djibouti took place in the building of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The document was signed at the level of heads of diplomatic missions of the two countries accredited in the Saudi capital.
The participants of the ceremony stressed the importance of further expansion of political-diplomatic and economic ties between the two countries, expressing mutual confidence that the document signed by the sides will give a new impetus to the development of bilateral relations. The sides highly appreciated the current level of interaction between the two countries within the framework of international organizations, first of all United Nations and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, highlighting the commonality of views on issues of peace consolidation and sustainable development.
Particular attention was paid to the establishment of cultural and sports cooperation, organization of joint events and mutual participation of delegations in cultural events held in both countries. In this context, the Turkmen side thoroughly acquainted the guests with the forthcoming V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which will be held in September 2017 in Ashgabat. Guests were also given video films, photos and sports magazines dedicated to the Asian Games.
