On September 19, 2022, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to the United Nations A. Atayeva met at her office with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia Samuel Žbogar.
During the meeting, there was a constructive exchange of views on the issues of the forthcoming 77th session of the UN GA, priority directions of the two countries in the UN, on climate change, water and elections to the UN structures.
At the beginning of the talks, S.Žbogar told that Slovenia nominated itself to the UN Security Council for the period of 2024-2025 and requested Turkmen side to support its candidature at the elections, which will take place in June 2023.
Ambassador A. Atayeva noted bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Slovenia in the fields of health care, telecommunications and transport.
The Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan informed her interlocutor about the intention of Turkmenistan to present to the attention of the 77th session of the UN GA the draft of the UN Resolution on declaring 2023 the International Year of Dialogue as a Guarantee of Peace, and expressed hope that this proposal will be supported by Slovenia.
