On October 12, 2022, in Astana, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov participated in the regular meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States.
The event was attended by the heads of the foreign ministries of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, as well as the CIS Executive Committee.
The Foreign Ministers considered preparations for the upcoming meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State, scheduled for October 14, 2022 in Astana, and also exchanged views on topical issues on the international and regional agenda.
Draft documents were agreed, which will be submitted for consideration of the heads of state in the framework of the upcoming meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of State.
The Plan of multilevel inter-Ministerial consultations within the CIS for 2023, the Action Plan for 2023-2024 on the implementation of the Strategy for International Youth Cooperation of the CIS Member States for 2021-2030, the Action Plan for holding in the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2023 the Year of the Russian Language as a Language of Interethnic Communication, the Plan of Priority Actions in the Field of Humanitarian Cooperation of the CIS Member States for 2023- 2024 were approved.
The Interstate Program "Sports Capitals of the Commonwealth", as well as a number of decisions on cultural and humanitarian cooperation within the CIS were endorsed.
It was decided to hold the next meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the CIS on April 14, 2023 in Tashkent.
The visit of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Kazakhstan has been continuing.
