On November 7, 2022, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu.
President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that he was glad to have the opportunity during today's meeting to discuss issues of further development of the traditionally friendly, mutually respectful Turkmen-American dialogue, giving new impetus to bilateral cooperation.
In continuation of the conversation, it was noted that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the United States. The basis of interstate partnership is the accumulated long-term positive experience of interaction. At present, contacts are successfully developing between the two countries in the political, diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
In this regard, it was noted that Turkmenistan and the United States intend to continue multi-vector cooperation both in bilateral and multilateral formats, within the framework of authoritative international organizations, and primarily the UN, in order to achieve sustainable development and general well-being.
In the context of discussing the prospects for trade and economic partnership, which is one of the priority areas of Turkmen-American relations, the significant role of the Turkmenistan-US Business Council, which is directly involved in holding joint business forums, exhibitions, meetings and other specialized events, was highlighted.
Interaction in the fields of culture, education, science and technology is also an integral part of the interstate dialogue. In these areas, various events, educational exchanges, creative actions are organized, joint projects are being implemented to study and preserve the rich historical and cultural heritage of the Turkmen people.
At the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs Donald Lu expressed confidence that the traditional Turkmen-American relations, based on the invariable goodwill of the parties, would continue to develop dynamically, filled with new concrete content.
