On November 14, 2022, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Uganda to Turkmenistan (with residence in Tehran), Mr. Muhammad Tezikuba Kisambira, who arrived in Ashgabat to present his credentials.
After exchanging warm greetings, the parties expressed the interest of Turkmenistan and Uganda in establishing long-term cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.
It was noted that high-level visits, as well as cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries, play an important role in the development of bilateral relations. The need to expand the legal framework for cooperation was also emphasized.
In this regard, as a first step, it was proposed to develop and sign a Memorandum of Understanding on holding political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the two countries and a Program of Cooperation between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs for 2023-2024.
During the meeting, the prospects for cooperation at the multilateral level and important issues on the UN agenda of mutual interest were also discussed.
The diplomats expressed their interest in developing trade and economic ties. In this regard, the parties noted the importance of organizing meetings between the relevant ministries and departments of the two countries with the participation of representatives of the business community to advance this process.
After presenting copies of his credentials, the Ambassador thanked the Turkmen side for congratulations on his appointment to a high diplomatic post and best wishes to the people of Uganda.
