On August 11, 2017, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Murad Ashraf Janjua.
During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the current state of relations, as well as discussed further intensification of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Noting the dynamic development of political and diplomatic cooperation, the parties discussed the issues of the next IGC meeting, planned to be held in Ashkhabad in the near future. Speaking about the prospects for developing relations on a wide range of areas, the parties discussed the possibilities of developing cooperation in the spheres of economy, trade, culture and education.
The Ambassador of Pakistan noted the active cooperation of the two countries, the basis of which is the common history, culture and traditions of the two peoples. He also noted the strategic role of the TAPI gas pipeline project and expressed his full commitment to further cooperation with Turkmenistan.
Noting the focus on fruitful and effective cooperation, the Turkmen side expressed its readiness to render all assistance and support to the Ambassador's activities in the expansion of Turkmen-Pakistani relations.
