On August 21, 2017 in Abu Dhabi, a delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs arrived to participate at the next session of bilateral political consultations. The Emirate side was headed by Ahmad Abed Al Rahman Al-Jarman, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the UAE responsible for Legal Affairs.
The agenda of the consultations included a wide range of issues related to the priority areas of the bilateral partnership. During the meeting, the parties conducted a thorough analysis of the implementation of interstate agreements.
The Emirate side reaffirmed its commitment to further expanding its relations with Turkmenistan in a wide range of areas. Also, the role of the intergovernmental Turkmen-Emirate commission was stressed, which by its decisions promotes the development of competitiveness and economic growth in both states. The parties discussed the issues of strengthening trade and economic relations, noting the positive dynamics of the growth of bilateral trade in recent years.
The Turkmen side noted that Turkmenistan closely watches the political, commercial, economic, cultural and social model of the development of the United Arab Emirates, which has become the important regional trade hub, favorite investment destination for regional and international companies as well as a leading centre for renewable energy.
The sides also discussed a wide range of regional and international issues of mutual interest and noted the need to continue bilateral consultations in regional and international organizations, primarily in the UN and its specialized agencies that form the foundation of multilateral cooperation.
The Emirate side expressed satisfaction with the policy of positive neutrality pursued by Turkmenistan and constructive initiatives in the fields of energy, transport and security, which were adopted by the UN.
On August 22, during the visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan had a meeting with the Minister of State of the United Arab Emirates for International Cooperation, the Managing Director of the World EXPO 2020 exhibition, Ms. Rim Ibrahim Al Hashimi. During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on the issues of building up bilateral cooperation in various fields of mutual interest.
