On September 19, 2017 in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting of the Chairman of the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan T. Komekov with the Japanese delegation led by the President of the Organizing Committee for the preparation of the Summer Olympic Games Tokyo 2020, the head of the Parliamentary Association of the Japanese-Turkmen Friendship of the Parliament of Japan Endo Toshiaki, who arrived in Ashgabat to take part in the Fifth Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games.
The parties discussed the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation, and also exchanged views on issues of mutual interest. In addition, during the talks, the parties discussed the prospects for the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as expanding relations in the field of sports.
At the end of the meeting, the signing ceremony of the "Memorandum on Pre-games Training Camp " was held between the State Committee for Sports of Turkmenistan and the Mayor of Tendo City of Japan, Shinji Yamamoto. The signing ceremony was attended by the representatives of the delegation of Japan and the officers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
